I don’t understand all the fuss about rape jokes, I literally only heard one, and it was this week, unless you count a few of the “Drop the soap.” jokes, which Tumblr doesn’t seem to mind.
The future of Nokia.
So, I mentioned that Nokia, as an ask pony blog, is over. What I failed to do, however, is provide more details.
So anyways, I think it would be appropriate to begin this post with explaining my reasons, and they’re fairly simple.
Short version is that I don’t like ponies anymore.
The slightly longer version, is that the fandom overflowed with massive amounts of annoying middle schoolers whose only purpose in life seems to be letting the entirety of Internet know that they like MLP. And while it seems to be like this in many other fandoms, MLP is just about the only one, other than the whole PewDiePie bros thing with such, uhhh, temperament?
Oh, and also, season 3 was poop, and the first few episodes of season 4 were didn’t do much to interest me.
As you may or may have not noticed, Ask-Nokia was, from the very beginning, a really crappy attempt to hop onto the bandwagon of pony blogs and the shitty joke about Nokia 3300 being indestructible. Not exactly the most fertile source for creative and interesting ideas, if you ask me. However, while the blog itself sucked and rarely ever updated due to my never-ending personal troubles, my brain did manage to somehow develop a somewhat nice character and a base for a storyline for her, this character being Nokia.
Now here’s the problem - Even if Nokia is a good character, she still stems from a stupid joke, and worst of all, is a crappy pony OC. I want to do something with the story and the character(s) I created, but it would be a waste to dedicate huge amounts of my effort to a project that could only be recognized in a small part of a fandom I’m not even a part of anymore.
So I decided I’ll do something else instead:
-The project will be a web-comic, I am very unsure of it’s format as of yet. I will not be hosting this on Tumblr, but probably on a separate domain (I’ll probably keep this Tumblr for Nostalgia’s sake, and to have a place to post concept art and updates to.).
-The characters and the story will be kept, however, any association with MLP or the cringe-inducing Nokia meme (Maybe apart from the character’s name, though I have an alternative excuse for that.) will cease.
-As my style evolved over the course of time, I grew fond of some parts of Nokia’s visual design, mainly the ones not related to MLP, thus I will be into the design of the fictional species in the project, not only does it help sever the link to Nokia’s somewhat embarrassing genesis, but will also serve as a handy way to create a caricature for the topics I’d like to dive into with the project.
Now, a thing I have to clarify, is that this is not a near-future plan, right now I’ll be focusing on art in general, my school, studying game design, and maybe making some videos, while developing this on the side. I want to have everything ironed out before starting the comic, and that probably won’t happen until I do all the life stuff like getting a steady job etc. Not to mention my most creative ideas come when I’m not forcing them to.
For no let’s just assume that I’ll start the comic in around 3-4 years (I’ll keep posting related art and stuff here, don’t worry.).
Feel free to drop an ask with any questions you may have, and if not, then just tell me how much you hate me and how you’re totally gonna unfollow me because x.
Anonymous said: if you're still up for this debate, I'll start fresh so as to stay on point. "According to the National Crime Victimization Survey by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 39,590 men and 164,240 women were victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault in 2008. Of those committed by a single offender, 78.1% were committed by men and 18.5% were committed by women." You'd be ignorant to say that there is not a disproportionately higher number of male rapists and female victims, and yes the BJS is
You know, I really wouldn’t mind continuing this, but so much time has passed, and the debate got so derailed that I’d rather just begin the whole thing over, and focus on the main point that we initially disagreed with, and if I remember correctly, that was about the mentality that women (Or, well, everybody.) should take measures to reduce the chances of them getting raped, or for that matter, having anything bad happen to them. (And I am not framing this as a “Hoho, you didn’t do x, so you deserved to get raped!”, I’m just saying that it’s impossible to just rely on the belief that everyone else will be good to us.).
If you want to talk about this again, then hit me up with another ask, and we’ll do so, just let’s not start 9999 topics and write 99999 word essays, I may not be the most stupid person in the universe, but tackling a big amount of loosely related issues at the same time with no segregation can get quite tiresome.
Also, I’m done with most of my personal problems that kept me away from replying for such long periods, at least for now, so hopefully this won’t take 9 lifetimes this time.
I think I need to dive underwater to escape the explosion of lazy spelling! Note there’s a difference between “bad” and just lazy.

Thirty seven. That’s how many times folks have sent in the “I mustache you a question” joke to the inbox.

Yes, I am quite aware of the irony.

Do keep in mind that my art from Pun Pony gets posted a few moths after I do it, so it’s not the best indicator of my current progress.
